So far things are a little better today. Extubation went much better than the first time. Our nurse is awesome: experienced, on top of things, and willing to go to bat for the "Booja". He drank his first bottle in almost four days. He is still in a lot of pain but he is starting to talk more. It is the saddest thing in the world as a parent to hear you child yell over and over: owe, owe, owe, mommy, owe, owe, owe. If only there was an easy way to curb all pain and make patients happy when they are miserable. Oh, he just pulled out his foley (luckily it didn't have a balloon on the end of it.) Gotta go.

  2. I wish I could jump across time zones or through cyberspace and hug that guy. It's great to see him, but the sight of him hooked up like this makes my own heart ache. However, i have no doubt that things will eventually get better. There will be many more conversations with him, happy ones, at that. xoxox Mary

  3. WOW! What a roller coaster of emotions and events! Thanks for the updates. Joshua said the prayer @ scouts on Thur. evening and I was so impressed and touched by his pure faith. He expressed sincere gratitude and then went on to give thanks for All of the many blessings that ARE to come. What elevated faith and trust in a loving Heavenly Father! You are a beautiful family and I can't imagine what it would be like to suffer through this process with little Matthew. Please let us know what we can do to ease the burden. with love, Kathryn Hart

  5. Wow, Matt and Chrissy, I can only imagine how intense and horrible these last few days have been for you. Your blog posts gave me a lump in my throat imagining all the suffering your sweet little boy and you are going through. I was relieved that things seem to be going a little better today. We've been on pins and needles getting updates from Deborah. You have been in Griff and I's prayers all week. And we are so grateful that we can add our faith to those in our ward as we fast tomorrow. Hopefully the RS will give me an assignment to help soon! Love, Mindy Christensen

  7. It's hard to hold back the tears looking at that picture of Matthew. Thank you so much for starting this blog to keep us all updated. I think about you all day; you are in our prayers and thoughts constanty. You are an amazing family with so much love and faith. I am so grateful to have gotten to know you, and thank you for sharing your experiences. Maybe I will run into you next week when I go see baby Cruz. And, we too, would love to help with whatever we can. Much love, Cary Rogers

  8. Thanks so much for the updates. I'm sure they are hard to do now that Matthew has been waking up. We are praying for Matthew to be comforted. I am so thankful for the opportunity to know your family. It has strengthened Cameron and I, and I love to see that your new ward is stepping in. Hang in there and get some sleep!
